Privacy Policy
Short version: we collect feedback submissions and use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate site traffic. We do not sell personal information.
What we collect
The feedback form at the bottom of every page is the only place this site asks you for anything. It has four fields, and only one of them is required.
- Feedback type and your message. Required, because otherwise there is nothing to act on
- Your name. Optional
- Your email. Optional, and only used to reply to you
If you leave the name and email blank, the submission reaches us with no way to identify you, and that is a legitimate way to use the form.
Who processes it
Form submissions are handled by Netlify Forms. Netlify hosts this site and stores submissions on our behalf. We do not pass anything you send to advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party, and we do not sell it.
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts and, on the map page, tile imagery from Esri. Those requests reach those providers with your IP address, which is how any embedded resource on the web works. We do not control what they log.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to measure visits, page views, approximate geography, referral sources, browser and device information, and interactions with site links. The active measurement ID is G-8P768RDDSK. Google processes this information on our behalf; we use the reports to understand which guides and planning tools are useful.
Cookies
Google Analytics may set a first-party _ga cookie containing a pseudonymous client identifier so it can distinguish users and sessions. The trip planner also keeps your answers in your own browser's local storage so a refresh does not wipe them. Planner answers stay on your device and are never sent to us.
How long we keep it
Feedback submissions are kept while they are useful, which in practice means until the correction has been made or the suggestion has been actioned or declined. There is no fixed retention schedule for a site this size, and pretending otherwise would be theatre.
Asking us to delete something
Email us and we will remove your submission. If you gave us an email address, that is the fastest way to identify which one is yours. Use the feedback form or write to the address on the contact details in the footer.
Children
This site is a trip planning guide for adults arranging travel. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date below changes with it.
