ST. ANTHONY GUIDE

Rules & closures

The paperwork belongs to Idaho. The seasonal boundary belongs to the BLM. Both need a current check before Red Road.

Two reopening dates, two different areas

The big dunes west of Egin Lakes are generally closed January 1 through sunrise April 1. The larger surrounding winter-range closure generally remains in place through sunrise May 1. A track across a closure is still a violation even when the terrain looks ready.

Machine and rider checklist

REGISTRATION

Resident or nonresident

Carry current proof and confirm Idaho reciprocity for the state where the machine is registered.

EQUIPMENT

Visible and compliant

Verify the current safety-whip, muffler, spark-arrestor, light, and equipment rules in official guidance.

YOUTH

Fit, training, supervision

Confirm Idaho requirements for the rider's age and vehicle class. Never substitute age for control and fit.

FIRE & CAMP

Current restrictions control

Use established access, contain fuel, protect emergency lanes, and check restrictions before any flame.

The map in your phone is not the legal boundary

Save the official brochure and closure map for offline reference, but use current orders and signs on the ground. Cell coverage can thin west of Egin Lakes.

This is a summary, not the regulation

Confirm current requirements with BLM St. Anthony Sand Dunes, Idaho Parks and Recreation, and posted signs before every trip. Upper Snake Field Office: 208-524-7500.
